Is a snapped cable an emergency?
It can be, especially if the door is stuck halfway or came down crooked and is blocking the opening. Treat it the way you would a broken spring and call the same day.
Why do my rollers keep wearing out?
El Paso dust and heat cycling are hard on rollers, especially plastic ones. Steel or nylon rollers hold up longer, and we can talk through the trade-offs when we’re out there.
Why do the cable and the rollers so often fail on the same call?
Because they wear from the same conditions. El Paso heat and UV cycling, plus Mesilla Valley dust working into the tracks, age both parts together. Rollers ride inside the vertical and horizontal tracks so the door glides instead of scraping metal on metal, and once they’re gritty or worn, the extra drag puts more strain on the cable riding that same system.
Can I just tighten a loose cable myself?
No. The cable is part of the same tensioned system as the spring. Tightening it wrong can drop the door or snap it further.
How long do rollers usually last?
It depends on the material and how much dust and heat they’re exposed to, but grinding or squealing rollers are worth replacing before they damage the track.
